Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension is a 2011 Disney Channel Original Movie based on the TV series Phineas and Ferb. The film premiered August 5, 2011 on Disney Channel in the United States,^[1][2] It was first announced by Jeff "Swampy" Marsh during a January 2010 interview with the Daily Telegraph.^[3] It is the first feature-length film of the Phineas and Ferbseries, and the third animated Disney Channel Original Movie.

The film premiere averaged 7.6 million viewers, making it one of the highest-rated animated programs on cable in more than three years. It later gained over 3 million viewers to become the second best animated basic cable telecast ever in kids 6–11 and tweens 9–14 and cable's fifth best movie ever in total viewers.^[4]

The film begins In medias res, after Phineas and Ferb have been nabbed by 2nd Dimension Dr. Doofenshmirtz and his sidekick Platyborg. Phineas and Ferb have a flash back to how their morning began.

Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb (Thomas Sangster) are celebrating the fifth anniversary of when they got their pet platypus, Perry (Dee Bradley Baker). Candace is opposed to Jeremy going off to college and tries to act more mature with the help of Stacy. Phineas and Ferb create a giant shuttlecock and robot replica figure of Perry to play a game of badminton. However, thanks to Perry, who accidentally collides his hovercraft with their shuttecock, Phineas and Ferb end up crashing into Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz's (Dan Povenmire) laboratory and destroying his "Otherdimensioninator", which is supposed to help him travel to parallel dimensions. After apologizing for the damages they done, Phineas and Ferb offer to help Doofenshmritz fix the machine, and when Perry shows up to fight Doofenshmirtz, he is shocked to see that his owners are here. Unwilling to give away his secret identity to the boys (which would mean he will be relocated to another family), Perry reverts to his "Mindless Pet" mode and is forced to watch them help Doofenshmirtz fire up his invention. As such, they are transported into an alternate universe where a second, truly evil Dr. Doof rules over his Tri-State Area with an army of iron-fist Norm bots. In addition, there is also a 2nd dimension Perry (now named Platyborg), who was defeated by 2nd Doof and programmed to serve as 2nd Doof's second-in-command and general of the Norm bot army. When the boys arrive with Perry, 2nd dimension Doof recognizes Perry is a secret agent, so he orders Platyborg to attack Perry. Perry does nothing, not wanting the boys to discover his secret. Trying harder, 2nd Doofenshmirtz orders Cyborg Perry to attack the boys, which finally forced Perry to reveal his secret identity as Agent P, much to both Doof and the boys' shock.

Phineas and Ferb escape, then decide to find their alternate selves. Around the same time, Phineas is now angry at Perry for using them as a cover for his double life. They find the alternate Phineas and Ferb, who don't know what summer is. They perform the song "Summer (Where do we begin?)". They find out that their 2D selves lost their platypus (turned out to be Platyborg later on). The real Phineas and Ferb catch Perry trying to run away, and decide to leave him behind, as they are still angry at him for his secret life. In the meantime, 2nd Doof lectures the original Doof of his lack of ability to distinguish Perry from his agent mode to his pet mode, citing that Doof's incompetence is what prevented him from taking over the Tri-State Are in his dimension. 2nd Doof then plans to use Doof's Otherdimensionator to lead an attack on the Tri-State Area in the original dimension.

Perry sees an announcement on the TV that if he turns himself in, then 2nd Doof will not harm Phineas and Ferb. Perry goes to turn himself in, but once Doof reminds his evil counterpart that his Otherdimensionator won't work without the help from the boys, 2nd Doof orders his bots to find Phineas and Ferb and bring them to fix the machine. However, Phineas and Ferb go to Isabella for help with their device that gets them back to their own dimension. They find that she is part of the resistance movement lead by 2nd dimension Candace. Baljeet is able to open the portal for their own dimension, but they decide that they have to get Perry back before they can leave. Candace arrives, and they plead with 2nd dimension Candace to help them get Perry back. She reluctantly agrees, but finds that 2nd Dimension Phineas and Ferb had come along. She abandons the group as they are about to rescue Perry, but upon learning that it was a trap, she stays. They are able to escape, and are racing along a mine trap. Then, Platyborg was able to shoot a wheel off of one of the mine carts, slowing them down. Knowing that she can't save Phineas, Ferb, Candace, and Perry, 2nd Candace was forced to ditch them again, leading to their capture. 2nd Doof orders the boys to fix the machine, but they refuse, questioning why would they want to do something that will result the end of their world. It was the Doof finally realized what the boys done when they fixed the machine, and finally manages to power it up.

Delighted by this, 2nd Doof orders Perry and the Flynn-Fletcher kids to be fed to a monster known as a 'Goozim', and when Doof annoys him again, 2nd Doof orders Doof to be fed as well, much to Doof's shock. 2nd Dimension Candace goes to help them by giving them the remote, but is captured, and put in a cell. She is later rescued by 2nd Dimension Jeremy, as well as 2nd Dimension Phineas and Ferb.

Phineas and Ferb, Candace, Perry, and Doof then through the other dimensions to escape the pursuing bots, trying to get back to their own. This surreal sequence ends with them arriving back in Danville. Unfortunately, 2nd Dimension Doofenshmirtz have arrived as well, and releases robots into Danville. Perry gives Phineas and Ferb a locket then runs off saluting them. They go home feeling that Perry doesn't love them quickly finding that the locket was given to them so that they would find their way to Perry's lair, and find that all of the things that they have built that summer are being stored in the lab. They summon their friends, and assemble a small army to use their machines to defeat the robots. Also, Perry's fellow agents have arrived to aid him in battling the robots. Love Handel arrives for musical accompaniment.

The battle scenes are also extremely psychedelic. Ferb starts climbing Doofenshmirtz's building, but Phineas beats him there, and he meets Perry again, who battles and defeats Platyborg while Phineas battles 2nd Dimension Doof. Phineas is able to destroy the satellite that is forcing the robots into Danville. However, taking one last trick in his sleeve, 2nd Doof brings out a large robot version of himself, preparing to kill Perry, Phineas, and Ferb with one single punch. Fortunately, Doof arrives to the rescue by calling 2nd Doof to stop before giving him a toy train that had been lost when he was a kid (a joke in the movie is that the two Doofs are polar opposites. While Doof had many traumatic experiences as a child, 2nd Doof had one trivial trouble.)

With his tragic upbringing resolved, 2nd Doof happily deactivates his robots in Danville, and returns to his own dimension, where he surrenders to the resistance. Several characters from the other dimension, including 2-D Candace, Jeremy, and Phineas, and Ferb arrive in Danville, thanking their counterparts for saving the day. At that moment, Platyborg reverts back to his normal self as 2nd Perry, and 2nd Phineas and Ferb take him home, thanking real Phineas and Ferb. Candace makes a feeble attempt to bust the boys, which of course fails, but she is not upset about it. Content, she returns home to live out the remainder of her childhood. Phineas, Ferb, Candace, Isabella, Baljeet, Buford, Love Handel, and everyone else that participated in the battle, have their memories erased so they can keep Perry, as they all know that he is a secret agent. Before their memories are erased, Isabella kisses Phineas leaving him surprised, but very happy.

The movie ends with Perry entering his lair, and uploading photos from the day onto his computer. He cries tears of joy as he looks at them, knowing at least he'll always have the wonderful memories confirmed in how when the computer says: 'Save photos?' Perry clicks 'Yes'. During the credits, the music video for Kick It Up A Notch plays (with Slash making an appearance).
